You Say That You Love Animals?
(a poem by Ryan Phillips)
You say that you love animals, you say you’re against abuse.
You donate to save the elephants and support the dog rescues.
But you walk into the grocery store and with your money buy
The body parts of cows and pigs that you have caused to die.
You say that you love animals, while you buy your chicken dinner
If they gave awards for bullshit lies, you’d surely be a winner.
For when I say I love animals, I boycott dairy, eggs, and meat.
I will not compromise my moral stance every time that I must eat.
So when you say you love animals, I’m not sure we see eye to eye.
Because your funding of all of their abuse suggests your love’s a lie.
