The movie Molly's Game tells the story of Molly Bloom. She is a former skier who was almost an Olympic athlete but ended up losing her ski during her qualifying event which ended her skiing career. She goes on to run an illegal gambling ring and is being put on trial because (unknown to her) she had connections to the Russian Mafia.
Molly's Game stars Jessica Chastain, Idris Alba and Kevin Costner. The acting in the movie is quite good and the story is compelling, especially considering that it is based on a true story. There is a lot of voice-over narrating of events by the main character but this was probably necessary to tell a very complex story in the 2 hour movie.
Elements in the movie that are possibly disturbing to a vegan:
1. A few scenes reference eating animals (lobster, oysters, steak). There is also a scene at a hot dog street vendor.
2. One scene shows a family eating what appears to be meatloaf. A later scene shows steak on plates.
3. There is a horse drawn carriage show in one scene.
4. A young girl is show in a coat that appears to have a fur lining. And the main character appears to be wearing a fur jacket at one point and wearing what she calls leather gloves in another part.
Overall, the use of non-vegan elements are not overly prevalent in this movie. And no animals are shown being harmed.
