Had an 8-10 year old kid walk up to Charlotte and say, "I love BBQ." So, in front of his family I responded, "Well, then you have to support animal abuse. Because abusing animals is the only way to get meat."
He said, "I guess you are right." And he was quite sincere and hopefully will now be less likely to grow up to be a d-bag.

Music by Savatage - 'This is the Time'
We are at war. Cast aside any doubts you have on that matter. Animals are our allies and they are being butchered by the millions every day. The government is protecting the abusers. They are hunting down the victims that escape (i.e. Lily the Pig).
So, when I hear vegans talking about coddling meat eaters or treating them as if they are not complicit in the mass murder of beings that I know to be my equal, it drives me as crazy as dealing with meat-eating dipshits in the first place. In war, if one person is firing bombs and guns and the other side is offering hugs... the side offering hugs is going down. We are not fighting for accouterments. We are fighting for the most basic desire of every living being: the right to live unharassed by the bullies of the world wishing to use and abuse those less powerful than they are. Gloves off, courage up, and get serious. Want animal abuse to stop? Get out there and stop it. See someone hurting an animal or paying someone to do so... do something, say something, or at the very least refuse to be a complicit bystander sitting at the table watching them violate the moral foundation that the most simple of humans should be able to understand.
We must fight back with any means available. Use your judgment on what that means. But, I will never berate a vegan for standing up to bullies. I will never question their method of defending animals. If you want to use words. Great. I support you. If you want to use weapons, I will never look down on anyone who is willing to possibly give up their freedom to defend the lives of those currently being abused and murdered. John Brown was 100% justified to take up arms against slavery and I feel that anyone willing to do the same for animals would be a hero beyond anything the world has ever known. But, regardless of where you stand on how best to defend animals... please just defend them. Today, tomorrow and everyday until people realize that the time has long passed when animals can be treated as objects and at the same time expect to have their friends stand by patiently. The time for patience has ended. The war for animal rights is upon us. Fight for the animals! Fight as if it could have been you locked in the cage waiting to die... because it could have been.
The past few days have been rough. I just haven't been able to shake a dark depressive mood that has come over me. Don't worry, I'll survive and my point is not to express how down I've felt. Rather, I want to highlight how amazing pigs are. My sweet Charlotte has been my constant companion always ready to cuddle close and hug up against me for as long as needed. She can brilliantly read emotions so well and express understanding through her actions and her eyes. I'm sure many people have companion animals that do this, but often people do not think of pigs in this way. All three of our pig children are among my best friends. I would be hard pressed to find a human that I feel so connected to outside of my wife and kids. I love them every bit as much as my human family. In my eyes, the difference is meaningless and truly nonexistent.
And in part, this plays into my depression knowing that animals just like my girls are being treated like objects. It kills me inside knowing just how 'human' -in the ways we consider good- pigs are. I can think of no justification for seeing pigs as anything less than my equals. Bragging that anything is 'fueled by bacon' is like bragging the USA was 'built on the backs of slaves'. We should be filled with shame for this, not proud of our cruelty and ignorance.
