I am filled with a fiery passion so intense that drives me to fight every moment of my life to bring an end to animal suffering. It feels like I am constantly engulfed in a battle to survive the torment of being surrounded by this suffering and people willing to look the other way while it happens. What is happening to these animals must stop. It must be made to stop. Patience is not a virtue if that patience allows billions to suffer and die. If you tell me I need to be patient I will tell you to volunteer to trade places with these animals and see how nice patience sounds then. I do not differentiate between a pig and a human in their worthiness to have their lives protected. The United States should be sending troops into slaughterhouses to defend these sentient beings. But our government will be of no help. They have been bought by these companies. Ag Gag laws are all the proof we need that our government is morally invertebrate. Instead we must refuse to be quiet while these egregious acts of barbarity continue. We must be vocal and refuse to stand by while others mindlessly enjoy the results of abuse, murder, and rape. Any and every chance we can, we must speak out. And we must say, loud and clear, no more! Any one of these animals could have been us and what would you want done for you if you were in that tiny cage, suffering, terrified and soon to be slaughtered. Don't try to find your voice, find their voice. Speak from the point of view that it could have been you. It is their message, we are but the messengers. And they are crying out for justice. They are begging to be freed and allowed to live a life of their choosing just as every living being wishes.
We must make it so that no single gallon of milk can be sold without one of us there to point out the harm this purchase does to the cow and calf. Every single egg that is bought must come with one of us present to explain the immense suffering that a chicken went through to produce that egg. And not a shred of meat should leave the store without having the details of the misery endured by some creature being enumerated to the financial contributor to this suffering. We must make the opaque walls of the slaughterhouse transparent with our words. We must make the distant screams of those animals ring in the ears of those who would purchase the result of that pain. Let them hate us, but they must know the truth and reconcile their actions with it. We must make grocery stores a terrifying place for the omnivore to venture. For the horrors they fund must not continue and when they can no longer get away with supporting it without having to hear about that which they condone tacitly by their purchases… then things will truly start to change and change quickly.
